The
bill (Reg. No. 6408) amends the Civil Code of Ukraine to determine the
guardianship and wardship authorities, and specify the groups of individuals
entitled to guardianship and custody to harmonize the Civil Code of Ukraine with the legislative acts on the
childhood protection.
S.Mishchenko, Committee Chairman, stated that the bill had been adopted as a basis at the plenary meeting on 19 October 2010. The Committee members discussed the bill in the part of the state administration bodies in charge of the guardianship and wardship. They deem necessary to authorize the local state administrations to grant guardianship and wardship of the minors, as these bodies are currently authorized to grant wardship of the adult legally capable persons.
The Committee members resolved to supplement the bill No.6408 with a provision, whereby the law comes into force since the day of its publication, while the part on the authorities of the local state administrations comes into force simultaneously with enactment of the bill No. 7344.
